I work better if I just grind out the work and do it. I often stress out when given a big assignment and tend to wait til the last minute to do it. This makes the assignment near impossible to complete because I give myself too little time and I end up doing a poor job. If I just focus and do the work I find that it isn't as bad as I made it out to be. Panicking is common when given a big assignment especially towards the end of the year. If you focus on the task at hand it will put an end to the panic. This olelo noeau relates to my second semester growth because I would often stress out on assignments, leading to poor work. I needed to find a way to calm myself and just do it. The only way to do this was to just relax and focus on the task at hand. This also relates to my growth because it shows how the way I approach my work has improved. I am better at doing my assignments and I panic less.
In ten years I hope to be a bio-mechanical engineer. That occupation will undoubtedly require a background knowledge of Biology concepts. I can use this eportfolio as a resource in case I forget some of biology terms. If I ever feel lost in the world of biology, I can come back to my eportfolio and recollect my memories. I can also revisit my portfolio if I ever feel the need to reminisce the good times in Mr. Patino's class or to feel an overwhelming wave of nostalgia. I can reflect on my growth from now to then, seeing my progress and improvement. I will see how much this biology class helped me and taught me so many things. I will be impressed at how much this class improved my divergent thinking and made me science literate. Overall, it will be a valuable resource if I am on the right track in life.

‘Ike aku, ‘ike mai. Kōkua aku, kōkua mai. Pēlā ka nohona ‘ohana.
Watch, observe. Help others and accept help. That is the family way.
Watch, observe. Help others and accept help. That is the family way.
Work together as a family to achieve the greater good. This ancient proverb has been passed down for generations and generations by the Hawaiians of old. For them, it wasn't a proverb as much as a way of life. It was an unwritten code that everyone lived by. This 'olelo no'eau was written by Mary Kawena to show that it is okay to accept help from your family because they are there to have your back. I picked this ‘olelo no’eau because I felt this message accurately depicts how my family works. We help one another because that’s what families do. We don't keep track of each others records, or of who does more; we just do what needs to get done because that's the family way. When ever one of us falls, the others are quick to help that person up. It not only represents my family and myself, but it represents my culture as well. Whenever my family has any conflicts, we resolve them by owning up, and moving forward. We know that families make mistakes, and we will always be there for each other in the end. This represents my quarter two performance because I've been with my Biology class for so long, that they are like family to me now. We help one another because we know if someone else needed our help, they would help us as well. That is what families do, they take care of each other. We communicate with each other and love one another. I'm glad to have been blessed with such a wonderful class. Period 4!
